1. The US government has simplified procurement procedures for their Agency procurement offices to encourage the growth of Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business. Executive Procurement Orders for 2005 allow for sole-source award for up to $5 million for manufacturers and $3 million for other categories of businesses in those situations where there are only one business provider in this category that can be identified as qualified to perform the specific work. The President has set a goal of Agencies awarding 3% of all their procurements in 2005 to qualified businesses of this category.
2. EESS is studying optimal designs in the use of RFID for enhancing the security of supply lines. This includes modeling, the study of Bayesian networks and Markov chains. This work is under supervision of The George Washington University Institute of Crisis, Disaster and Risk Management.

3. Egan Engineering Support Services LLC has been awarded a one-year consultant services support fellowship with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Work will be directly in support of the Department of Homeland Security and its risk management methodology called RAMCAP.
4. EESS is assisting Fortune 500 Homeland Security firms to compete for various contracts in maritime domain awareness. These include the current competition for NAIS and the Strategic Border Initiative. These programs are in support of both DHS and DOD.
